Success and emotion marked the premiere of the Azorean Opera at Teatro Micaelense, in Ponta Delgada, capital of the Azores. An initiative of the State Government, through the Secretary of Culture, with the support of the Government of the Azores. 

The theatre, dance, and music show 'Os Descendentes da Atlântida - Ópera Açoriana', directed by Marcelo Restori, is a tribute to the adventurous spirit of the Azoreans who populated the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. "The coming of this show to the Azores it has a very strong and very special meaning, because it demonstrates the importance of the Azorean legacy in southern Brazil and because it symbolizes this close connection between the people of the state and the Azorean people ", said the Regional Undersecretary of the Presidency for External Relations, Rodrigo Oliveira.
