Love Love Love - Grupo Jogo de Experimentação Cênica

Love Love Love, which is called by the GRUPOJOGO "scenic exercise", adapts poems by Shakespeare, a promising lode that has been explored in recent years by names like director Robert Wilson and the Royal Shakespeare Company.

The show directed by Alexandre Dill has what is conventionally called a fragmented structure. Without an explicit relationship between them, the scenes combine theatre and dance to talk about the different facets of the theme: erotic and familiar love, hetero and homosexual love, and so on.

 

The soundtrack performed live and through recordings, includes classical music, Beatles, and Edith Piaf. It is in this mix of references without much internal cohesion that the show falters.

 

There is a conflict between a lyrical record (the sonnets) and a more mundane one (the dialogues). The poems are given sometimes in Portuguese, sometimes in English, without justification for this alternation. And the passages that gravitate towards these end up repeating the commonplace.

 

The protagonist in this production, the lighting is sparse, a good idea that resembles the works of Cia. Club Noir (SP). The actors, in expressive performances, saw silhouettes, illuminated by a beam that emerges from the right side (or left, from the audience's point of view) from the back of the scene towards the audience. The feature works in some sections; in others, it relegates part of the cast to almost total pitch.

 

The work of GRUPOJOGO must always be expected as a breath of unrest in the Porto Alegre scene.
